Thrashers season comes to a close after 6-3 loss to Philly Phoenix

Well, we were outshooting them until about the middle of the game, but unfortunately they got some bogus goals/calls due to a spineless, out of position, seemingly rookie referee, and likewise we didn't get a few bounces our way either: a double-blow that brought the season to a close. Their goalie gave us a lot of rebounds but we just couldn't pound them home for the win.

Noteworthy, though, is the fact that we were down 3-0 late in the 2nd period and then all of a sudden we exploded with 3 goals within what seemed to be just a minute (or less!) and finished the 2nd period with a roaring tie at that point. Like an old man fresh out of viagra however, we couldn't keep it up for the 3rd period, and despite Jen's great efforts in net and all of our great players' efforts in front of her, we fell short.

Lou (??) and Jen seemed to take a couple minor injuries during the game, but hopefully none too serious. Jen -- the massage offer is still there. Sorry Lou--you'll have to heal yourself. ;-)

We had a great time at Grant's afterwards! Big kudos to Sequel for cheering us on and hanging out afterwards too! Rumor has it that Eddy "Shack" was there (hopefully rooting for us!) as well. Good luck to Laura on her China adventures. We'll miss her (and Frank if his job takes him out of the area) making the plays for us on the blue line!

I'd like to say again publicly that this team ROCKS and I will gladly play with them again in the Fall (scheduling allowing). Rothy did a great job wearing the "C" and getting a lot of great key players who in turn knew other great key players as well. Just a ton of fun to skate with all of you guys (and gals) this season. Worth a 2 hr drive and stayover at Roth's? You bet!!!!! If we can keep this same calibur on the bench for the Fall/Winter season, we're sure to have a BLAST!!!!!

Standings per Roman's email today

Just got an email from Roman showing us tied for 4th with the Blades of Steel: http://mbsoftwaresolutions.com/hockey/thrashers/standings.jpg

My money is that we'll be considered 5th place. Even if BoS lose Sunday, they've got more GF (Goals For) so perhaps that'll be the deciding factor. ??? So if we are 5th, then we'll play Philly Phoenix on Thursday at 9:55pm.

Plan for that...I'll try to confirm with Roman early next week and let you know the "official" answer once we get it.

Jen -- we could use Frank, Beaner, and Laura if they're all available. Rothy and I don't mind playing up on 3rd/4th line and having Frank/Laura back there instead! ;-)
